Over the past month, the American media, government, and public have been astounded by the expansiveness of fraud in federal funds by the Somali immigrant community in Minnesota. The total worth of the fraud is not exactly known but is estimated to be around $9 billion at least.
News of Austin (December 22, 2025) summarized the nature and scale of the fraud that has rocked the nation and renewed calls for strict accountability, particularly for stripping the criminals of their citizenship and deport them. Members of the Somali immigrant community in Minnesota, mainly residing in the Minneapolis area, recklessly stole money from 14 federally funded welfare programs.
While the current administration has finally taken some action against the culprits, it is worth noting that this fraud was reported as early as 2018 (the First Trump administration) and enjoyed a free pass from the government.

Subsequently, during the COVID-19 years, the Somali immigrants accelerated their theft with individual and small groups of people robbing various federally funded programs of millions of dollars at a time. A lot of this money was stolen by Somali Americans running daycare centers and housing services. Reports have also come out of some Somali immigrants trying to take millions in cash out of the country to their ancestral country.
OMG π¨

The Christian Post wrote of the Somali immigrants’ fraud scandal that this it draws attention to the larger crisis facing the West. The article opined:
The real problem right now, so this thinking goes, is that bigoted Americans noticed the scandal and might not be so keen about bringing in waves of more Somalis, who are the real victims here.
